Seriously, George Osborne is investing in a spaceship!

It's a cliché to talk about August in politics being the "silly season" (not only is it almost over but surely Syria makes it fairly serious) so instead I thought I'd talk about something that's awesome.

One of the interesting things to come out of the Budget back in March was that the government is planning to invest £60m in a company called Reaction Engines who are developing the SABRE engine which could make spaceplanes a reality.

Some filler to occupy you while I'm out

Bit of a drought recently due to a combination of a crazy-busy period at work and me going on holiday but we have had a few interesting pieces on the Opinium site:

We did a bit of heat wave based polling basically pointing out that while the media use Fahrenheit to emphasise how hot the weather has been, most people actually think in Celsius instead.

The other thing was asking voters of each party what they thought of the others with the most interesting result being that Tory voters are reasonably positive about UKIP but not vice versa. Results are here.

Otherwise I'm off to rural France to remind myself what life was like before mobile phones and internet access.
